Sorry Folks, That Deep Ellum Wine Bar Isn't Happening After All

It's headed to Oak Cliff instead — with a new name.

Deep Ellum has come a long way, but perhaps it's still not the right place for a wine bar.

There's no denying Deep Ellum is in the midst of some serious re-gentrification, but is the area still heavy on tattoo parlors and death metal bands really the right neighborhood for a wine bar? The would-be proprietor of Cepage apparently decided it's not. CultureMap's Teresa Gubbins reports restaurateur Jean-Michel Sakouhi's plans for the wine bar, which was to take over the Elm Street space vacated by the short-lived EZ Dude BBQ, have been scrapped.

Instead, Sakouhi will open a wine bar called Bouchon 1314 at 1314 W. Davis in Oak Cliff, right across the street from Oak Cliff Pizza. Look for it to open in the coming weeks, says Gubbins.
