Lebanese Sensation Afrah is Expanding to Irving

The Richardson original is getting upgraded digs, too.

Mediterranean food favorite Afrah has a new location in the works. The Guy Fieri-sanctioned Richardson restaurant is opening a second outpost in Irving, at 3351 Regent Blvd. near 635 and Belt Line.

The Richardson original opened back in 2002 and is perpetually packed with loyal customers who come for the shawarma, hummus, baklava, and housemade gelato. In 2011 Food Network paid Afrah a visit, and the family-owned business enjoyed a surge in business thanks to a segment on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. (Nevermind the fact that Afrah is neither a diner, a drive-in, nor a dive.)

The humble Main Street location is getting an upgrade, too: A brand spanking new restaurant was constructed right next door to the Richardson OG, and soon operations will expand into the larger, fancier new building. Expect more parking, a much bigger dining room, and of course, more room for those glorious spinning cones of meat. Look for both new Afrahs to debut in May.
