Super Chix, the Chick-fil-A-esque concept from fast food giant Yum Brands, debuts its second location Tuesday at Preston and Belt Line roads.
The first Super Chix opened in Arlington last spring with the slogan "the last true chicken sandwich." Unlike Yum's breadwinners, KFC and Taco Bell, Super Chix has a decidedly less cookie-cutter vibe that belies its corporate ownership.
The Super Chix menu is focused on chicken sandwiches and chicken tenders, both of which bear an uncanny resemblance to Chick-Fil-A's — right down to the inclusion of pickles and the peanut oil they're cooked in. No waffle fries here, though: Instead, the spuds are hand-cut russets seasoned with one of three flavor options, including rosemary-black pepper. Super Chix's other specialty is housemade frozen custard, which comes in daily rotating flavors like salted peanut dark chocolate, whiskey butter crunch, and black raspberry cheesecake
Like the Arlington original, the Far North Dallas Super Chix is located within spitting distance of a Chick-fil-A. Business hours are Monday through Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. — that's right, now you can get your chicken sandwich fix on a Sunday.
Dallas is prime breeding grounds for Yum Brands test concepts: The Vietnamese-inspired Banh Shop opened on SMU Boulevard last fall and now also has an additional outpost inside DFW Airport.
