Seattle-born doughnut shop Top Pot continues its Dallas invasion: This weekend saw the debut of its second area shop at 2937 Greenville Avenue, across the street from Stan's Blue Note and Cafe Brazil.

On the doughnut shop spectrum, Top Pot falls somewhere between your typical nondescript neighborhood fixture and the hipster doughnuteries like Hypnotic and Glazed. The crunchy-crusted, irregular-shaped old-fashioned is a specialty here and comes in several flavors like raspberry, lemon, and salted caramel; other unique varieties include chocolate sandcastle (a chocolate cake doughnut dusted with cinnamon sugar), a spiced chai cake doughnut, and a pink-iced "feather boa" coated in coconut flakes.

Top Pot's very first location outside of Washington state opened in University Park last fall. As you might expect for a company hailing from the caffeine capital of Seattle, the chain also takes its coffee game very seriously: Top Pot has its own small-batch roastery in downtown Seattle and offers cold-brew as well as an unusual Ovaltine latte.

Top Pot Lower Greenville is open Monday through Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. A third DFW location is in the works for Richardson's CityLine development.
