Go Inside Uchi, Uptown's New Japanese Beauty

Hallelujah, it's here.

It's finally here: Long-awaited Uchi — arguably the biggest restaurant opening of 2015 thus far — swings open its doors tonight on Maple Avenue. The third location of chef Tyson Cole's Austin-born modern Japanese sensation has a menu largely the same as its Austin and Houston siblings, with the addition of a couple Dallas-exclusive dishes like gyuotoro Wagyu (72-hour braised short rib served over spinach puree with a compressed Asian pear and Thai basil terrine) and kamo nabe (duck confit over crispy rice and kale topped with an egg yolk and Korean chili-black pepper sauce). Other menu highlights: foie gras nigiri, a "ham and eggs" sushi roll with pork belly and yolk custard, and a stunning dessert lineup from executive pastry chef Andy Lewis. Check out the full menu here.

The handsomely appointed Uptown space is open for dinner seven nights a week starting at 5 p.m.; reservations can be made via OpenTable or by calling (214) 855-5454. In addition to the main dining room, there's also a bar, a sushi bar, and a private dining room that can be reserved for events.
