Expo Park's Eight Bells Alehouse Won't Serve Your Typical Pub Grub

Oak Cliff pub Ten Bells Tavern is poised to expand with a new sibling — Eight Bells Alehouse, renovations for which are currently underway in the former Amsterdam Bar space in Expo Park. While Ten Bells is known for hearty pub fare like fish 'n chips, short rib frites, and a burger, Eight Bells' menu will be a different sort of animal.

Food is always an important component in an establishment. Ten Bells Tavern prides itself on fresh, chef driven dishes....

A sneak peek shot of the menu reveals beet carpaccio with goat cheese and honey and a pear frisee salad with pomegranate seeds and pistachios — both of which sound awfully sophisticated for a laid-back neighborhood bar. Stay tuned for more menu developments as Eight Bells inches closer to opening; the latest projection says the bar should open before the end of May.

After some chatter about the death of Expo Park nightlife, it seems the neighborhood is on the verge of a comeback: Eight Bells will be joined by Expo Bar and Grill, coming soon to the old Meridian Room spot. The new establishments will join existing craft beer haven Craft & Growler to complete a boozy trifecta that'll make for a solid night of bar-hopping — not to mention the Underpass, Sandbar, and a bit further down the street, Double Wide and Cold Beer Company.
