Ida Claire Will Bestow Southern Charm and Biscuit Sandwiches on Addison

From the folks that brought you Velvet Taco and Whiskey Cake.

And now, more details on Ida Claire, the cleverly-named upcoming venture from Fork It Over — creators of Velvet Taco, Whiskey Cake, and Mexican Sugar — that's headed to Addison. Described as a "funky, Southern influenced restaurant and bar," Ida Claire promises biscuit sandwiches, chicken and waffles, and "revved up" takes on classic cocktails such as the mint julep that will incorporate several types of housemade bitters and a house-infused gin. Escape Hatch previously reported that chef Fitzgerald Dodd, formerly of the now-defunct Screen Door, would man the kitchen.

Heavy construction is currently underway on the former Truluck's space on Belt Line Road, with aims of creating a restaurant that feels like "a quirky Southern aristocrat's home," complete with "a reworked Airstream trailer parked in the garden for VIP reservations." Here's a look inside the construction zone, courtesy of Ida Claire's Facebook:

Fork It Over has yet to issue any sort of official announcement on the project, so when it comes to an opening date we can only wildly speculate — but based on the looks of the construction site, it's going to be a while until you can sip a mint julep inside that Airstream.
