UPDATED: Le Taco Cantina Brings Fusion Tacos and Tequila to Scotch & Sausage Space

POST UPDATE: Per a rep for Le Taco Cantina, the new concept isn't operating alongside Scotch & Sausage (as was originally planned under the name S&S Tequileria) but is replacing it instead. The Scotch & Sausage concept has reportedly been sold.

Oak Lawn whiskey and tube meats purveyor Scotch & Sausage is now home to a second new concept, officially opening Friday at 11 a.m.: Led by chef Daniel Tarasevich, former executive chef at Scott and Gina Gottlich's The Second Floor at the Westin Galleria, Le Taco Cantina will serve tacos and tortas with a little Asian fusion thrown in for good measure.

Make that "pseudo-tortas," as the version served here is more like a torta-burger hybrid:

Tacos are served on either handmade corn tortillas or can be wrapped in lettuce:

Other taco options include:

• "Moo shu" duck confit with hoisin, snow peas, and Napa cabbage slaw
• Tempura avocado with plaintains, pea sprouts, and Calabrese chile sauce
• Yellow coconut curry grilled chicken with green onions, romaine, and tomato
• Smoked carnitas with grilled pineapple, santaka pepper salsa, and red cabbage

Also on the menu: chicken or beef skewers, chorizo Scotch eggs, elotes on the cob with togarashi and yuzu, and cinnamon-sugar dusted churros. And rest assured there's plenty of tequila on the menu, with a variety of margaritas made with fresh fruit juices, "skinny" frozen margaritas in flavors like cactus and coconut, and a mezcal Old-Fashioned.

Le Taco is currently in search of a few good staff members; interested parties should stop by any day this week between 3 and 9 p.m. Stay tuned for grand opening festivities later this month.
