Planet Sub Set to Colonize Deep Ellum With Sandwiches and Beer

The Kansas-born chain is headed this way.

Brace for another sandwich chain invasion, Deep Ellum: Planet Sub is moving in at 2813 Commerce Street in an attempt to give nearby Which Wich and Subway a run for their money. The Kansas-born chain has dozens of locations in the U.S., mostly concentrated in the Midwest; there's already one in downtown Fort Worth and another slated for Irving.

Like many other sandwich chains, Planet Sub touts fresh-baked bread; but unlike, say, Subway, they actually mix it in-store rather than just baking it from a frozen state. The menu includes expected combos like ham and swiss, turkey club, BLT, and a "meatball grinder," plus some more original concoctions like "The Experience" (chicken, bacon, pepperoni, pepper jack, cream cheese, jalapenos, and chipotle sauce); there's also gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.

Judging by the TABC application hanging in the window, Planet Sub will also be serving beer and/or wine. Of course, tasty sandwiches and plenty of alcoholic beverages can already be had just up the block at the independently owned Uncle Uber's.
