Because even crappy pizza is quite edible, pizza day was always a high point during the week of reliably dismal school cafeteria lunches — even served, as it typically was, alongside pasty mashed potatoes and soggy corn kernels. Now late-night staple Greenville Avenue Pizza Company is taking you back in time with a totally bizarre-sounding new special inspired by the school lunch of your grade school days: A pizza topped with sloppy joes, hot dogs, corn, mashed potatoes, and broccoli.
Available only on Thursday, July 23 only for dine-in, delivery, or takeout, GAPCo's throwback pizza will be available three ways: in a 12-inch ($14) or 16-inch pie ($18), or, most appropriately, as a rectangular cafeteria-style slice for five bucks. (According to a press release, said special is intended to commemorate the made-up holiday known as National Hot Dog Day.) The pizza will be served all day from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., though we've got a strong suspicion this one will taste better after a few drinks.
