Cat Cafe Pop-Up Hits North Dallas in August

Just in case you don't already have a cat or three at home.

The cat cafe mania that has swept the nation is on the brink of invading North Texas, as evidenced by at least two concepts currently in the works for DFW. For those who just can't wait to cuddle an unfamiliar domestic shorthair while sipping on a latte, there's a more immediate opportunity: Beginning August 8, a North Dallas pet supply store and "cat hotel" called The Cat Connection will host a cat cafe for four consecutive weekends.

Per a press release:

The Dallas café will be a first for the DFW metroplex and will feature adoptable cats and kittens compliments of various local rescue groups. Guests will be able to play with cats on a first-come-first-serve basis for up to twenty minutes. Operation Kindness will provide adoptable cats and kittens for the Grand Opening on August 8th, and be on hand to facilitate adoptions. Donations are not required but are appreciated as they will go to support local rescue.

Free drinks and locally made snacks will be served, and minor Instagram celebrity Sauerkraut Kitty — who seems to be the poor man's (admittedly adorable) Grumpy Cat — will also make an appearance. The cat cafe will be open on Saturday August 8, 15, 22, and 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more details and updates, follow The Cat Connection on Facebook.
