Wild About Harry's Is Open in Deep Ellum Right Freaking Now

Brace, Deep Ellum: Wild About Harry's is open right this second at the corner of Hall and Commerce streets. After almost three long years of waiting, the neighborhood finally has a resident ice cream shop — only way better, because this is frozen custard.

In addition to cups and cones of custard (today's flavors include toffee crunch, German chocolate cake, and coffee) there's also concretes, shakes, and sundaes. Hot dogs are available in several versions including a Chicago-style and a New York-style, and a soda fountain is stocked with real cane sugar sodas from Oak Cliff Beverage Works, including an oh-so-summery mango flavor.

Hours are currently set at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, but the Wild About Harry's folks say they're receptive to what the neighborhood wants — and hopefully, that will mean later hours to feed the after-dinner crowds (if not also the late-night bar hoppers and post-show crowd).
