Meridian Room Replacement Expo Bar Debuts in Exposition Park

Croissant grilled cheese and white chocolate bread pudding await you.

After a depressing stint of closures, nightlife in Exposition Park is on the upswing: Meridian Room replacement Expo Bar is now open just in time to cater to State Fair crowds. It comes just weeks after Ten Bells Tavern sibling Eight Bells Alehouse began breathing new life into the old Amsterdam Bar space just around the corner.

For those who can't abide by Eight Bells' unusual canned seafood offerings, Expo Bar's menu includes more traditional bar food to pair with its beer selection: Think burgers, whiskey-battered onion rings, cheese fries, and fish 'n chips. For healthy eaters there are several salads dressed up with kale and rainbow Brussels sprouts; on the more indulgent side, a croissant grilled cheese and white chocolate bread pudding.

And the new bar is planning to bring back one very important Meridian Room tradition: CultureMap says the new bar will soon be reviving the famed half-price food night on Tuesdays.

Expo Bar is open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
