Inside Pink Magnolia, Blythe Beck's New Ode to Southern Cuisine

Tonight's the night.

Now's your chance to wander around Pink Magnolia, the joint project from chef Blythe Beck and Kitchen LTO founder Casie Caldwell that makes its Southern-fried debut tonight in Oak Cliff.

The former home of Driftwood has been dressed up for company with fun touches like a proper porch swing and a wall of greenery at the hostess stand. (There's even a hot pink kitchen door to match the vibrant chef's coats favored by Chef Blythe.)

As for the food, expect a grown-up take on Southern family favorites such as lobster jalapeno hush puppies and a chicken-fried ribeye with bacon redeye gravy; cocktails range from a signature Champagne cocktail to spiced rum punch and an elderflower and rose-spiked "Southern Belle."

Reservations can be made via Pink Magnolia's website; as of press time, there were still some prime-time tables available. Brunch starts next week — think hoecakes and banana-Nutella french toast — with lunch service to soon follow.
