Cafe Momentum Will Appear On New Oprah Winfrey Network Docuseries

The rest of the country will soon learn about one of Dallas’ shiniest hidden gems

Amy McCarthy is a staff writer at Eater.com, focusing on pop culture, policy and labor, and only the weirdest online trends.

Everyone in Dallas knows that, in addition to serving up high-quality fare, Café Momentum does important work for at-risk youth in DFW. Now, the rest of the country will learn about the city’s hidden culinary gem.

BroadwayWorld reports that Café Momentum will appear on The Hero Effect, a ten-part documentary series headed to the Oprah Winfrey Network. Presented in conjunction with United Way, the series will “bring to life the stories of ordinary individuals who are making extraordinary differences in their communities.” Which is, of course, a decidedly apt description for the work that Café Momentum’s Chad Houser and his staff do with nonviolent juvenile offenders.

Café Momentum will appear on episode two of The Hero Effect. Go ahead and set your DVRs for November 12 at 10 a.m. to watch 2015’s Eater Dallas Restaurant of the Year get its time in the spotlight on the silver screen.
