Tortaco, Your New Favorite Spot For Mezcal & Tortas, Is Now Open In Downtown

Tortas, tacos, and bowls from Chef Nico Sanchez are here

Described as part “hipster hangout, elevated biker bar, and tattoo parlor,” Tortaco has officially made its debut in Downtown Dallas.

The new spot, which occupies the space that was formerly to home to Stephan Pyles’ San Salvaje, features an industrial-chic vibe complimented by distressed concrete tables, Edison bulbs, and furnishings to match. The focal point, though, is the large open-air patio perfect for chowing down on tacos and sipping one of the bar’s more than 90 mezcals and tequilas.

As far as the food is concerned, Meso Maya’s Chef Nico Sanchez will offer a selection of proteins — think truffled steak or burnt ends — that can be wrapped in a tortilla or piled on top of grilled artisan bread. Also on offer are globally-inspired bowls topped with kimchi pork, tamarind pork, or thinly sliced hamachi.

Tortaco is open for lunch and dinner, and a prime spot for Downtown happy hours. Go forth, and treat yo’ self to a taco.
