Fort Worth’s restaurant scene will soon get a massive dose of heat when massively popular chain Gus’s World Famous Fried Chicken makes its debut.
The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports that Gus’s is tentatively set to open its doors by the end of December. The Memphis-based chicken chain currently operates 16 restaurants across the country, including its first Texas outpost which opened in Austin in January 2014. The Fort Worth location was announced back in October 2015, which means that this chicken is a long time coming.
Gus’s is known for its fiery and crispy chicken, complete with an “eggshell crunch” that features a heavy dose of spicy seasoning. A selection of traditional sides, like baked beans, potato salad, and fried okra will also be on offer, in addition to pies by the slice.
Gus’s joins the booming restaurant scene on West Magnolia, like the recently-opened Heim Barbecue and the new home of Melt Ice Creams. When it (hopefully) makes its debut on December 16, don’t be surprised if you have to line up behind plenty of other fried chicken enthusiasts.
