Now that Filament, Chef Matt McCallister’s Deep Ellum Southern hotspot, has been open for a few weeks, the opening chaos has likely settled into a nice groove. Which meant that it was time for this ambitious new concept to launch a hearty new lunch menu.
Starting today, Filament will begin serving lunch to hungry Deep Ellum dwellers. The lunch menu features many of the dinner menu’s stand-outs, like the johnnycake okonomiyaki highlighted by Texas Monthly critic Pat Sharpe last week, alongside lighter plates that make sense for a mid-day meal.
New lunch options include yaka mein, a hearty beef noodle soup that is commonly eaten in New Orleans to treat the nastiest of hangovers. The "cauliflower country captain" combines an uber-trendy cauliflower steak with farro, roasted curry, and pickled raisin. Shareable plates like wood-roasted baby carrots and deviled shrimp and crab make Filament an excellent option for office lunches.
Scope out the full menu below. Filament debuts lunch service today at 11 a.m.
