DOWNTOWN – As part of the Dallas Farmers Market’s ongoing revitalization, a new concept called Laili will open at The Market in March. Look forward to "delicious fusions developed from working with spices and herbs common to The Silk Road trade routes." Translation: look forward to "specialized turnovers," dumplings, and other TBD plates. [SideDish]
UPTOWN – Chef Dean Fearing’s namesake restaurant has made an exciting new chef hire. Announced yesterday, Dallas’ own Gabriela McCormick will join Fearing’s as sous chef. Hernandez began her career at Fearing’s after graduating from El Centro College’s culinary program in 2009, working her way up from cook to lead line chef before her latest promotion. Expect McCormick’s hand in the launch of the restaurant’s spring menus and upcoming guest chef dinner series. [EaterWire]
