After a trip to Dallas this weekend, it would appear that Lorne Michaels has pretty solid taste in barbecue. In town for a talk at the George W. Bush Presidential Library, the SNL showrunner managed to slip away for a few moments to enjoy some of the city’s best barbecue at The Slow Bone.
According to Slow Bone staff, Michaels walked from The Rosewood Mansion Hotel all the way to The Slow Bone in the Design District for a plate of ‘cue. Likely starving after navigating Dallas’ treacherous sidewalk situation, Michaels and his party, which included writers from Saturday Night Live, stuck around until the restaurant closed at 3 p.m., feasting on barbecue and washing it all down with plenty of Coors Light.
“They were delightful, chatty, and just great guests,” said Slow Bone manager Anne Lewis. Reportedly, Michaels got the barbecue recommendation from Owen Wilson, a Dallas native and noted Slow Bone enthusiast. Given those two endorsements, this barbecue joint may soon be one of the best places in town to spot a celebrity.
