This fall, Dallas’ sweets scene is going to get a whole lot sweeter as Emporium Pies plans to further expand its flaky crust empire across Dallas-Fort Worth. In addition to locations in Oak Cliff and McKinney, the popular pie shop will soon open in one of Dallas’ trendiest restaurant neighborhoods.
Emporium Pies owner Megan Wilkes tells Eater that the bakery's third outpost will open at 2708 Main in Deep Ellum, right next door to Pecan Lodge. As if it weren’t already great enough to enjoy barbecue in the comforts of Pecan Lodge’s roomy new(ish) home, now you’ll be able to grab a slice of pie on your way out – assuming you have any room left.
The newest Emporium Pies outpost is still in the early stages of planning, but one thing is certain: you’re going to want to go ahead and prepare yourself for barbecue hand pies, a meaty collaboration with Pecan Lodge that will be available once the restaurant is open.
To celebrate the announcement, Wilkes will host a pop-up shop in front of the new spot in Deep Ellum this afternoon, featuring some of Emporium’s off-menu favorites. If you’ve never had the pleasure of experiencing the Trifecta pie, a bourbon-pecan beauty studded with chocolate chunks and tucked inside a shortbread crust, today’s an excellent time to right that wrong.
Wilkes expects that the third Emporium Pies outpost will open in Deep Ellum by Fall 2016, or, as she says, "just in time for Thanksgiving."
