Because learning is better when booze is involved.

What better place to learn about whiskey than a place named after whiskey?

In case you didn’t get the memo, March 27 is officially International Whiskey Day. Go on ahead and mark your calendar for this most hallowed of holidays, but Plano restaurant Whiskey Cake has reserved the entire month of March to celebrate their namesake spirit, and that means some pretty exciting things for whiskey enthusiasts and newbies alike.

Over the next four weeks, Whiskey Cake Plano will host a series of whiskey classes, each focusing on one of the world’s most famous whiskey-distilling regions, including Scotland, Ireland, Japan, and the United States. In the classes, guests can sip and sniff and "learn everything they didn’t already know" about the country’s fastest growing spirit.

Each boozy lesson will include two premium whiskey tastings hosted by an expert well-versed in each whiskey’s distinct flavor profile. Classes will be hosted every Tuesday this month, including March 15’s lesson on Irish whiskey, March 22’s dive into American whiskeys, and March 29’s exploration of Japanese whiskeys.

Classes will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m., and unlike college, these classes will only set you back $20 per person. If you attend all four classes, you’ll earn a "special" (hopefully alcoholic) gift. To reserve your spot, call Whiskey Cake at 972-993-2253 and get prepared to enthrall all of your friends with your newfound whiskey knowledge.
