Independent Bar & Kitchen Quietly Opened In Deep Ellum Over The Weekend

If you happened to find yourself roaming around Deep Ellum this past weekend, you likely noticed a new restaurant in the mix. Independent Bar & Kitchen, a project of Club Dada and City Tavern owner Josh Florence, quietly kicked open the doors this weekend for a soft opening.

Earlier this month, Florence announced that he’d hired Andrew Dilda, formerly of Barter in Uptown, to lead the kitchen at the brand new restaurant. Independent Bar & Kitchen takes over the space formerly occupied by Pepe’s Ranch at 2712 Main Street.

On the menu is "rustic European comfort food" like bangers & mash and steamed mussels alongside a full bar menu and plenty of room out on the patio on which to enjoy cocktails. Dessert options include an assortment of cookies served with milk, a decidedly nostalgic (if excellent) choice.

Stay tuned for more details on when Independent Bar & Kitchen plans to hold an official grand opening, but in the meantime, stop by and see if they’ll let you pop in to take in a cocktail on what is decidedly one of Deep Ellum’s best new patios.
