Richardson’s ever-growing CityLine development looks to bring a number of exciting restaurants to the suburb, and power restaurateur Kent Rathbun is getting in on the action.

Next week, Rathbun will open an outpost of Jasper’s, his popular elegant-casual restaurant that first opened in Plano, at 1251 State Street. Originally scheduled to open in 2015, the project has clearly been met with plenty of construction delays.

Leading the kitchen will be Chef Evan Tanner, who brings more than ten years of restaurant experience. Most recently, Tanner worked as executive sous chef at The Great Outdoors in High Springs, Florida. Now, he’ll work with Rathbun to create the elevated “gourmet backyard cuisine” that’s long made Jasper’s a suburban staple. The restaurant will offer the same menu as the Jasper’s in Plano.

The 7,600 square foot restaurant was designed by architectural firm Jones Baker, and features a “crisp, contemporary aesthetic” via split-face limestone, steel, and walnut woods. The dining area will feature two “modern fireplaces” and a window wall that opens up into the patio.

Jasper’s will open for lunch service on May 2 at 11 a.m., and will stay open until 3 p.m, Monday through Friday. Dinner service will launch in the coming weeks. Notably, Jasper’s will open for brunch service on Mother’s Day.
