Long a fixture on Dallas' culinary scene, Kent Rathbun has reliably been helming the kitchen at Abacus since it opened nearly eighteen years ago. Which is exactly why it comes as a shock that Rathbun has reportedly resigned his post at the long-standing restaurant.
Escape Hatch Dallas reports that Rathbun has resigned his day-to-day duties at the restaurant. D Magazine's Nancy Nichols adds that the departure comes after recent "struggles" with his Abacus business partners.
"Although he will be relinquishing his day to day activities to pursue other avenues of interest, he remains to be a part of this company," reads an official statement from Kent Rathbun Concepts. "We are currently exploring his new role and welcome his continued engagement for the benefit of our guests, staff and company."
No word yet on what those avenues of interest will be, or whether or not the departure will impact Rathbun's forthcoming concepts at DFW Airport.
