There are a number of things one might think could spark a fistfight in a restaurant – spilled beer on new shoes, a poorly timed ‘yo mama’ joke – but chips and salsa doesn’t generally rank high on that list.
But because this is Texas, and chips and salsa are practically like religion, the ubiquitous appetizer sparked a nasty brawl at Dallas’ El Paisano Mexican Restaurant over the weekend.
Dallas man Isael Rojas posted live video, which features chair-throwing, hair-pulling, and epic punches, of the fight on Facebook at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25. It has since racked up more than 1.6 million views.
Scope out the insanity for yourself:
According to Rojas, the fight began over a basket of chips priced at $5 – which admittedly sounds steep – and a choice of red or green salsa. Serious business, indeed. The fight quickly dissipated with no arrests, and Rojas was able to complete his order outside the restaurant in a happy ending of sorts.
