Fire is (of course) a necessary component for barbecue restaurants, but this essential ingredient got a little out of hand in the wee hours of this morning at beloved Dallas barbecue institution Pecan Lodge.
NBC DFW reports that the fire broke out around 6 a.m., when firefighters were called to the restaurant to battle the blaze. No injuries were reported, and damage to the restaurant, the extent of which is not yet known, is said to be minimal. Whew.
On Monday, Dallasites poured into the restaurant to raise funds for the Dallas Police Association’s Assist the Officer foundation. 100% of the day’s sales, topping more than $15,000, was donated to help law enforcement officers and their families in the aftermath of last week’s deadly shootings in Downtown.
Fortunately, you can still line up at Pecan Lodge for lunch today – the doors will kick open as usual at 11 a.m.
