– The Elbow Room, a favorite haunt of Deep Ellum and Downtown drinkers, may soon be forced to close its doors. The Dallas Morning News reports that Texas A&M University plans to initiate eminent domain proceedings to shutter the divey gem if owners Joe and Rosalie Nagy refuse to sell.

– Dallas doesn’t have a whole lot of options for South African cuisine, but that could soon be changing. Houston-based Peli Peli recently expanded to Austin, and owner Thomas Nguyen tells the Houston Chronicle that the restaurant is eyeing Dallas as its next expansion. The first restaurant could land as soon as 2018.

– He’s already got a solid grip on Addison’s dining scene, but restaurateur Kenny Bowers is currently taking over the suburbs. At present, Bowers is hiring employees for Kenny’s East Coast Pizza, his brand new venture announced back in May, in anticipation of a "late August" opening in Plano.

– Heads up, suburbanites: Great Scott has officially kicked open the doors in Grapevine. Owner Matthew Scott is a veteran of Kent Rathbun’s restaurants, and has earned accolades from Food & Wine (among others) for his somm skills.
