Plus, a new Fireside Pies in Downtown

Alton Brown
The last time Alton Brown was in Dallas, he (obviously) had tacos.

– Culinary nerd, cookbook author and Cutthroat Kitchen host Alton Brown is headed to DFW. CultureMap reports that Brown will appear at the Stonebriar Centre location of Barnes & Noble in Frisco on October 5 for a signing of his new book, Alton Brown: EveryDayCook. [CultureMap]

– In a nod to Dallas’ culinary scene, popular new spot Trompo is up for consideration for Bon Appetit’s list of the country’s 10 best new restaurants. Trompo is one of three Texas finalists, alongside Austin’s Emmer & Rye and Houston’s Foreign Correspondents. The winners will be revealed in the magazine’s September issue. [EaterWire]

– According to D Magazine, Fireside Pies will open its latest DFW outpost in Downtown at 1700 Commerce. No timeline has been announced for the opening, but construction appears to be underway at the space next door to Downtown’s new Hampton Inn. [D Magazine]
