The summer may be over, but you’re probably about to be in the best shape of your lives thanks to JuiceLand, the Austin-based smoothie and juice shop that quietly opened yesterday at Sylvan Thirty.
Started by Matt Shook in the early 2000s, JuiceLand is now home to Dallas’ healthiest beverages. Here, you’ll find a dizzying assortment of smoothies like The Originator, a blend of fresh apple juice, banana, blueberry, cherry, and peanut butter, gets a healthy boost from brown rice protein, flax oil, and spirulina.
For fifty cents or a dollar more (each), you can choose from an array of superfood boosts to add to your smoothie, including matcha, hemp oil, and kelp, or whiz up your own blend for optimal nutrition. A selection of vegan eats — think taco salad topped with walnut chorizo and vegan "queso" and rainbow quinoa — and fresh juices fill a vibrantly colored cooler case, along with a selection of healthy shelf-stable snacks.
Eater photographer Katy Norris scoped out the scene on opening day.
