Since departing Private Social in 2013, Chef Tiffany Derry hasn’t helmed a Dallas restaurant. That will all soon change as the Top Chef alumna plots her Trinity Groves debut.
GuideLive reports that Derry will open Roots Southern Table at Trinity Groves. The space for the restaurant is currently under construction, and will sit adjacent to immensely popular burger spot Off Site Kitchen.
For the menu, Derry will draw inspiration from her mother’s Southern cooking. You’ll find classics like the duck fat fried chicken from her menu at Private Social, along with her mom’s special, "out of this world amazing" recipe for seafood gumbo. Derry’s mom will prepare desserts for Roots Southern Kitchen, including chess pie and orange juice cake.
In addition to getting Roots Southern Table open in the coming months, Derry is also working on a menu of grab-and-go items for the forthcoming Uptown Urban Market, and as GuideLive notes, is in talks to bring her duck fat fried chicken to Plano’s Legacy Hall with Roots Chicken Shack.
