File this one under "major restaurant moves that flew under the radar" – one of Dallas’ favorite authentic Mexican eateries is making a big move to the ‘burbs.
A post to Mesa’s Facebook page indicates that the restaurant is currently planning to open an outpost of its Beyonce-approved Jefferson Ave spot in Grapevine at 1000 Texan Trail. No word yet on an opening timeline, only that the restaurant is expected to open at some point in 2016.
As you may know, chef-owner Raul Reyes built the first Mesa from the ground up, and is similarly hands-on with the new restaurant. A video posted to Mesa’s YouTube account shows Reyes welding an art fixture for the restaurant’s dining room out of scrap metal. Scope out the slow-mo action below:
Eater has reached out to Mesa for more information on when the Grapevine outpost will open. Stay tuned for more details.
