Back in February, we learned that popular McKinney comfort food spot Sugarbacon had its eyes on Lakewood. Now, the restaurant is ready to open in a familiar new home.

Announced via release, Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen will debut at 6400 Gaston Avenue next week. As Eater reported back in February, the restaurant will take over the former Dixie House space, which makes for a fitting home to serve Sugarbacon’s namesake smoked pork belly dish and housemade tater tots.

Chef Jon Thompson opened Sugarbacon in McKinney back in 2015, but he’s since departed to pursue other culinary ventures. Former Hibiscus executive chef Jason Ferraro took over as corporate chef for the concept earlier this summer, and helped revamp the menu ahead of the expansion.

Chef Andrea Maricich, formerly of The Second Floor at the Westin Galleria, will serve as Executive Chef for the Lakewood location. The menu will be identical to the offerings at the McKinney location, with the exception of rotating specials that will be unique to Lakewood.

Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen will make its Lakewood debut on Monday, October 3. The restaurant will be open for lunch, brunch, and dinner Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The doors will stay open an hour later on the weekends.
