Despite the popularity of tiki cocktails across the country, Dallas has lacked a bar dedicated to the mid-century cocktail trend since the closure of Trader Vic’s back in 2010. Soon, that will all change as East Dallas tiki wonderland Pilikia makes its debut.
A project of the minds behind The Tipsy Alchemist, ILL Minster Pub, and Truth & Alibi, owner Chris Beardon tells Eater that work on Pilikia’s interior (formerly home to Three Sheets) is nearing completion, and construction is currently underway to finish creating the island vibe on the bar’s patio.
The bar takes its name from a Hawaiian word that aptly means “trouble,” and will feature a menu of beverages crafted by barman Aaron Wang. Look forward to classic tiki libations like the Mai Tai, Painkiller, Zombie, and a cherry-vanilla spiked daiquiri alongside more modern cocktails like the Texas Port, mixed with Austin’s 9 Banded whiskey, lime, honey, passionfruit, and egg whites.
At present, Beardon anticipates that Pilikia will host its soft opening the last weekend of January from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Regular business hours — 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. — are set to begin on February 7, with daytime hours to follow on the weekends as Spring approaches.
