There’s a new option for barbecue and whiskey in The Colony. Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse softly opened for lunch and dinner every day on October 26, and will host a grand opening on November 30. The restaurant is located at 2801 Plano Parkway.
This 2,500-square foot restaurant is outfitted with a bar built from repurposed Jack Daniel’s barrels, and an expansive, dog-friendly patio with televisions and heater and misters for cool or hot weather.
The menu is stocked with mains like brisket, chicken wings, and sausage, along with beer can chicken dip and poblano corn fritters. Choose from more than 200 bourbons and whiskeys from across Texas and the globe (order a shot and it will arrive in a mini-mason jar.)

“We’re not a big concert venue and we’re not going to compete against all the hoity-toity places up around The Star,” Barrel & Bones co-founder Mark Kelcher said in a press release. “We want to be the alternative to all that hustle and bustle. Where you can get good food, a great selection of drinks and a unique atmosphere – all without the fuss of things like dress codes and valet parking.”
The restaurant is from the Kelcher Entertainment Group, which operates The Hub and Ron’s Place in Addison, District 30 and Cedars Social in Dallas, Big Shots Sports Café and Ron’s Corner Tavern in Bedford, and Delta Charlie’s at Dallas Executive Airport.
