Haywire, a brand-new steakhouse from the team behind Whiskey Cake and Sixty Vines, is opening tonight at Legacy West in Plano.
An update posted to the steakhouse’s Facebook page announces its arrival at 5901 Winthrop Street in Plano. The latest addition to the city’s bustling steakhouse scene is totally dedicated to Texas, evidenced by both the decor and the menu. Expansive interiors are dotted with exposed brick, metal work, leather-clad seating, and other familiar trappings of a steakhouse, like animal heads decorating the walls. Guests can take in views from the giant upstairs patio, featuring an open-air bar. And there’s also an airstream trailer on-site, outfitted with a wrap-around sofa perfect for lounging after gorging on ribs.
An extensive menu promises Southern favorites like chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes, and a riff on kolaches made with pretzel dough and stuffed with queso and sausage. Haywire also throws some unexpected recipes in the mix, like wild boar chops with local oyster and shiitake mushrooms; spicy elk picadillo tacos with caciotta cheese; and local duck egg poutine with Texas goat cheese.
On the booze front, Haywire offers more than 10 specialty cocktails bearing Texas-themed names like the Marfa Mule and the Big Bender. A handful of Texas craft beers from the metroplex and beyond also grace the menu, and a first-floor whiskey lounge boasts more than 300 varieties on offer.
Haywire is located at 5901 Winthrop St., Suite 110, Plano. It will be open Sunday through Wednesday, 4 to 10 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday until 11 p.m. The kick-off event starts at 5:30 tonight with a champagne sabering.
