Dallas Grilled Cheese Company is breaking ground on a new spot in Mockingbird Station after two years serving up gooey grilled cheese in Oak Cliff’s Bishop Arts District.
The 2,500-square-foot space that will be transformed into the second location of Dallas Grilled Cheese Company is located at 5319 E Mockingbird Ln #120, and was formerly a Smashburger outpost. The space is currently undergoing demolition and construction, and should arrive sometime early next year, right around the burgeoning chain’s third anniversary.
The restaurant boasts 18 different grilled cheese sandwiches with all kinds of interesting fillings including honey compound butter, bacon, sloppy joe sauce, spinach, green apples, and prosciutto, to name a few. The menu also offers appetizers like like four cheese bacon mac, soups, salads, and desserts. Craft brews are on tap with more than 20 selections.
“We absolutely love Bishop Arts and have been very conservative in our approach toward growth,” said Mack Simpson in a statement, partner in Dallas Grilled Cheese Co. “But when space inside Mockingbird Station suddenly and unexpectedly came on the market, we knew it was an opportunity we wouldn’t be able to resist. It will be fun to graft a little quirky branch from Bishop Arts into the Mockingbird Station and SMU neighborhoods. We’re excited to see how it blooms.”
Dallas Grilled Cheese Company is expected to hit Mockingbird Station in mid-January 2018. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
