Punch Bowl Social, a sensory-overload-inducing playground for adults and self-proclaimed “millennial magnet”, will debut its Deep Ellum outpost next year.
Eater originally reported the restaurant’s arrival last year, and now the Dallas Morning News reports that Punch Bowl Social will land at 2600 Main Street. The Denver-based restaurant’s first Dallas spot will be home to eight bowling lanes, a bocce court, private karaoke rooms, virtual reality games, and a 360-degree bar with a plethora of TVs for sports watching. The whole thing will be housed in a 23,000-square-foot multi-story space where the “décor melds mountain lodge, Victorian, modern and industrial elements,” whatever that means.
Punch Bowl Social operates more than 10 locations across the U.S. with 10 more planned for 2018 and 2019. The company’s culinary partner, James Beard Award-winning chef, restaurateur, author and Top Chef judge, Hugh Acheson, worked on the lengthy and aggressively trendy menu, which features buzzy dishes like avocado toast and a superfood grain bowl, along with obnoxiously named offerings like the “Dawgy Style” (get it?) of beef franks and tacos.
As the restaurant’s name might indicate, the menu touts four boozy options served in vintage punch bowls for up to 8 people, which anchor a broad menu of “old school” and “new school” offerings, alongside alcohol-infused milkshakes. This place might not be for the “woke” Deep Ellum crowd, Punch Bowl’s selection of mocktails are offered under the offensively-titled “Preschool” menu category.
“Deep Ellum is one of the city’s most popular entertainment destinations,” said Punch Bowl Social founder and CEO, Robert Thompson, in a statement. “It boasts a strong live, work, play ethic and immediate access to the DART’s commuter rail station, attributes that resonate well with our brand and our guests. We’re thrilled to join the Dallas community and more specifically, such a vibrant and historically-relevant neighborhood as Deep Ellum.”
Punch Bowl Social plans to bring this millennial-friendly bonanza of food and games to Deep Ellum in summer 2018.
