When Tallywackers on Lemmon closed last year, many were sad but few were surprised that scantily-clad male servers and mediocre food weren’t exactly a recipe for success. Now, a decidedly less-racy concept has plans to take over the plum piece of real estate on Lemmon Ave.
According to CultureMap, Roux Bistro will take over the former home of Tallywackers at 4218 Lemmon Ave, bringing “casual, price, conscious” fare influenced by Mediterranean and Southern flavors and techniques. The restaurant’s name, Roux Bistro, is a nod to the roux-thickened sauces prominent in Cajun and Creole cuisine.
The menu will include casual fare like tacos and burgers and fancier eats, like oysters Rockefeller and shrimp cocktail, likely influenced by Koutsogeorgas’ time as the owner of Theodore’s, a seafood restaurant that CultureMap says shuttered in the 1990s.
Roux Bistro is expected to open in March, though no opening date has yet been announced. It also hasn’t been confirmed just yet, but the servers at this new restaurant will probably wear pants. How disappointing.
