Kung Fu Saloon, a fun concept in theory, has a bit of a contentious name in DFW. The boozy arcade joint is perhaps best known in this city for its bouts with the justice department over their allegedly racist dress code.
Hopefully, the Austin export’s newest location in Fort Worth will not be damned by the sins of its sister location. The Fort Worth Star Telegram reports that Kung Fu Saloon will be opening a new location in the West 7th area. The area is already a little crowded with similar concepts - Barcadia, Landmark Bar & Kitchen, Poag Mahones, and Victory Tavern all boast arcade games.
Perhaps Kung Fu is hoping to set itself apart with the karaoke trailer parks in the works for this location. Managing partner Chris Horne told the Star Telegram that the bar will feature “two 25-foot vintage airstream trailers, completely retrofitted into semi-private karaoke rooms,” which is definitely not a feature at any bars nearby.
Kung Fu Saloon is slated to bust open the doors this fall near the corner of Morton and Foch streets.
