The Meatzilla will make its triumphant return this year

For too long, Dallas has been without the perfectly fired, cheesy New York-style pizzas served up by Zoli’s NY Pizza Tavern, the Cane Rosso sibling restaurant forced to shutter and relocate last year due to impending property development. It may be still a long way away, but now we finally have an update as to when diners will be able to score those coveted slices again. Finally.

Over the weekend, Zoli’s NY Pizza Tavern shared a major update on the progress on the restaurant’s new home in Addison. The restaurant was originally supposed to occupy a building that formerly housed Snuffer’s at 14910 Midway Road, but the space had serious problems. As such, the team had to “knock that mofo down and build a brand new one from scratch.”

Scope out the video of the building’s demise below, soundtracked by Drake:

Unfortunately, the new building will push back the opening of Zoli’s 2.0, as it has been christened, several months. Last year, owner Jay Jerrier anticipated that the restaurant would open its doors by November 2016, but now he’s planning to have Zoli’s open again by September 2017.

It has been — and will continue to be — a long time to wait, but once you finally get your hands on a slice of that Grandma, all of these months of sitting around pining for pizza will be so, so worth it.
