If you have somehow managed to avoid the videos of Nusret Gökçe, better known as Salt Bae, showering sodium onto giant hunks of meat, you likely live under a rock. For those that are dying to try steaks seared (and salted) by the Salt Bae, posts to the chef’s social media could indicate that he’s headed to Dallas.
Posts uploaded to Gökçe’s Instagram Stories show that the swoon-worthy chef visited Dallas yesterday, perhaps to scope out a location for a Dallas restaurant. In his Stories, Gökçe was spotted at The Star in Frisco, the Dallas Cowboys’ swanky new retail district slash practice facility, which will house celebrity chef Jose Andres’ Zaytinya later this year.
Gökçe also shared a clip that shows him poring over a map of Dallas neighborhoods, which could indicate that he’s looking for a spot actually inside the city. In the Story, a woman (likely a real estate agent) points out NorthPark Mall, which could also potentially be home to Gökçe’s hypothetical Dallas restaurant.
Gökçe is already planning to leverage his social media fame to open an outpost of his restaurant Nusr-Et in New York City, and brings a serious meaty pedigree along with him. According to Eater NY, the chef currently operates five outposts of the steakhouse in his home country Turkey, along with a burger joint.
Obviously the Salt Bae’s new Dallas restaurant is in the earliest of planning stages right now, but perhaps the muscle-bound chef will soon bring his superior salting skills to the land of meat.
