Whether or not one actually celebrates 4/20, also known as marijuana’s biggest holiday, it’s hard to ignore the appeal of a day on which eating tons of food and taking naps is encouraged. If further motivation is required to participate in the festivities, look forward to Zalat’s newest (and most stoner-friendly) pizza option for the holiday.
On 4/20, a.k.a. Thursday for non-potheads, Zalat will serve an epic “Elvis In Vegas” pie dedicated to the holiday. The cheesy pizza is topped with a sprinkling of edible sequins (who even knew those were a thing?) and jalapenos, along with a heavy dose of pulled pork that’s been marinated in Sunkist orange soda. The piece de resistance, though, is the “dime bag” of crushed Cheetos that’s served alongside for an appropriately stoney garnish.
Outside of its novelty appeal, this is the rare stunt food that sounds like it actually doesn’t taste awful. Pulled pork and jalapenos are obvious bedfellows, and a sprinkling of Cheetos is sort of like a less-sophisticated version of parm. That said, if you’ve smoked enough of the devil’s lettuce, it probably won’t matter anyway.
The pie will only be available on Thursday, April 20 at Zalat’s Dallas and Plano locations in limited supply, so get those orders in early if the Elvis In Vegas is crucial to your Weed Day celebration.
