Sumo Shack Brings Ramen & Japanese Hot Dogs To SMU Boulevard

The minds behind Wabi House will soon open a new fast-casual spot

For those that have slurped the ramen at Lowest Greenville’s Wabi House, a soon-to-open, Japanese-influenced eatery on SMU Boulevard may just be the most exciting food news of the week.

Wabi House chef-owner Dien Nguyen tells Eater that the Wabi team is putting the finishing touches on Sumo Shack, a brand new fast-casual spot that will land at 5629 SMU Boulevard in the coming days. According to Nguyen, the restaurant will offer counter service and a full bar, along with the ability to order up piping hot bowls of ramen to go.

In addition to ramen, the restaurant will also serve up a selection of steam buns (bao) and Japanese-style hot dogs topped with nori, spicy mayo, and grilled onions. Take a peek at Sumo Shack’s dogs below:

Sumo Shack will also add a new late-night dining option to the area, with plans to stay open until 4 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The new spot is expected to officially kick open the doors on May 5.
