Despite the recent spate of weirdly cool days in Dallas, summer is coming. When the heat arrives, though, a local favorite sadly won’t be available for Dallasites to cool themselves off.
A post to Aunt Stelle’s Sno-Cones’ Facebook page indicates that the Oak Cliff favorite will not return for 2017’s hottest months, citing a series of “difficult events” for the team behind the popular icy treat shop in its off-season. According to CultureMap, the family that runs Aunt Stelle’s made a last-minute decision (on the day it typically opens for business) to call it quits this year.
Check out the full post from the shop below:
As you know, today was supposed to be opening day for the shop. However through many tears, discussions, prayers and sleepless nights we have decided to close for the 2017 season. Too many difficult events during our "off season" has led us to this decision. We ask that y'all respect our privacy in this matter. Love, Lee (Freda), Ed, & Mark
It’s unclear whether or not Aunt Stelle’s will make its return next year, but in the meantime, pour one out for the Pink Lady.
