After an alleged attempt to poach one of his employees, Revolver Taco Lounge owner Regino Rojas has “declared war” on its Deep Ellum neighbor Bowls & Tacos.
In a series of tweets posted to the Revolver Taco Lounge account, Rojas accuses Bowls & tacos of attempting to poach one of its prep cooks, a “tortillera” responsible for making the restaurant’s tortillas.
Check out the tweets below, and prepare yourselves for the onslaught of the taco wars:
We declare a taco war with @BowlsAndTacos for trying to steal my tortillera, Let the taquiza begain! #tacowars #dallas @TacoTrail

We wouldn't have a problem teaching you how to make real tortillas @BowlsAndTacos but la lealtad y el respeto a tu cultura no se compra!

From there, the Twitter wars escalated — but only slightly:
Apparently "lealtad" and "respeto" costs $7 per taco. https://t.co/adohVRZwgc

In a publicly-visible Facebook post, Bowls & Tacos owner Sam Wynne responded to Rojas’ allegations and denied ever trying to poach any Revolver Taco Lounge employees. Wynne also included a screenshot of a post made to Rojas’ personal Facebook account, which goes even further than the allegations in the tweets.
Check out Wynne’s post below, and note that local taco expert Jose R. Ralat also waded into the fray, calling Bowls & Tacos’ offerings “mediocre to bad.” Ouch.
Hey Regino Rojas, why you so mad? No one tried to steal any tortilla ladies from you dude. Ours is named Dianella, she's...

It’s unlikely that we’ll see any taco-inspired, West Side Story-style rumbles in Deep Ellum anytime soon, but stay tuned for more details as this story develops.
