Back in December, Eater reported that Fort Worth smoked meat destination Heim Barbecue & Catering was planning to open its second location in Cowtown. Now, we’ve got more details on where exactly that’s going to be.

This morning, pitmaster Travis Heim announced on Facebook that the restaurant has officially signed a lease in Fort Worth’s River District. Originally, the second Heim Barbecue was set to open in the former Thurber Mingus space at 4400 White Settlement Road, but the building had a number of problems that the Heim team apparently was not willing to take on.

We're now officially official in the @riverdistrictfw! We cannot wait to start construction to turn our new location...

After earning widespread acclaim for its killer ‘cue served from a trailer, Heim Barbecue moved into its first-ever brick-and-mortar restaurant last year. On its first day in business, the spot in Fort Worth’s Magnolia district served nearly a ton (no exaggeration) of barbecue.

Construction on Heim Barbecue’s second restaurant is expected to begin in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for an official opening date.

UPDATE: Travis Heim tells Eater that construction on his second restaurant will begin in June, and is expected to take 9-12 months to complete.
