Gas station food doesn’t exactly have a reputation as gourmet, but DFW’s own Chef Tim Love’s partnership with giant travel center chain Flying J could change all that.
The celebrity chef announced today that he will team up with Pilot Flying J, which operates thousands of travel centers (read: road-trip oriented gas stations) across the country, to develop a new selection of grab-and-go food items. Love’s eats will show up in the Southwest region only, and will focus on “the flavors and specialties that represent the region’s fare.”
Pilot Flying J hasn’t announced what specific items Love will add to its stores just yet, but expect plenty of Southwestern influence. "Our mission will be to create nutritious options that are easy to carry and easy to eat,” Love said in a press release announcing the partnership. “That criteria tends to be top of mind for most travelers, but hard to come by on the road."
No word on when Tim Love will invade Flying J stores across the Southwest, but keep an eye out for his forthcoming snacks.
