After a series of successful pop-ups, new banh mi shop Sandwich Hag is just about ready to kick open the doors in the Cedars.
Sandwich Hag owner Reyna Duong tells Eater that the restaurant at 1902 South Lamar will open in the coming weeks. The casual spot will serve up Vietnamese dishes from a window, which can be taken to the adjacent dog-friendly patio for dining. This weekend, Dublin-based artist Katherine Rupit will begin painting a 50-foot mural inspired by the Cedars on Sandwich Hag’s building.
In addition to the banh mi that gives Sandwich Hag its name, the restaurant will offer Vietnamese salads, curries, spring rolls, and edamame hummus, along with a selection of coffee and tea drinks. According to Duong, the drinks will skip typical boba chain powdered mixes in favor of locally-sourced milk and loose-leaf teas.
No official opening date has been set just yet, but Sandwich Hag is expected to arrive in early July.
