Earlier this month, Eater reported that some of Dallas’ most experienced barmen had plans to open a new spot in Deep Ellum called Shoals DE. Now, it appears as if that forthcoming booze haven is preparing to open its doors.

Shoals DE quietly opened the doors at 2614 Elm to the public for the first time last night, but no word yet on whether or not is ready to begin full service. The bar is a project of Michael Martensen, who is a partner in Proof + Pantry, and Omar Yeefoon, a highly experienced bartender who has worked at esteemed watering holes like The People’s Last Stand and The Cedars Social.

The menu for the spot serves up a simple list of classic cocktails, like Sazeracs, mojitos, Palomas, and margaritas, along with unique spins on familiar drinks, like a nitro-infused Cuba Libre. An equally tight (and oddly-curated) menu of food options will soon be on offer, including fried butter beans, bologna sandwiches, and empanadas created by a rotating cast of local chefs.

Eater has reached out to the owners of Shoals DE for more intel on when the bar is set to officially debut, but Martensen has not responded to multiple requests for comment. In the meantime, check out the menu for the forthcoming spot, along with a peek inside.
